The Church of the Epiphany worship services will use the Anglican/Episcopal tradition of the Book of Common Prayer, but will be open to all Christian traditions. Their goal is to be inclusive, welcoming and mutually supportive as well as reaching out to people in the community who have material and spiritual needs. Fr. Bill Schwartz is leading this project in Dohar and the church has developed a website to educate people about this worthy cause and the huge endeavor they have undertaken. ROW has decided to partner in this project because we think our readers and listeners might appreciate having the opportunity to be a part of something unique, unprecedented, and remarkable: that of building a Christian church in a Muslim country. Rivers
Of The World has been presented with a unique opportunity to help build a
Christian church in Dohar, Qatar. The Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh
Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, has offered land on which to build the
country's first Christian churches since the seventh century when Islam took
root in the Gulf. On the "church city" site are being built five church complexes;
The Church
of the Epiphany, Roman Catholic, Byzantine Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox and Indian
Churches.
