2007 Tumaini Children’s Home Update
Posted by: | Posted: December 31st, 2007 | CommentsWe have a big project going on in Nakuru, Kenya, starting up an orphanage home and a primary school targeting a population of 400 children when completed.
Right now we have accommodation for 60 children at the home who are also attending our primary school with six classrooms completed. We are in the progress of constructing a dinning hall, a kitchen and a health centre which will take care of our children and the neighboring community, since the home is about 10 Km from town. July, 2006, Kenya - Just outside Nakuru in Western Kenya, something big is happening. On a 30 acre parcel of land, Tumaini Children’s Home is under construction. Tumaini, which means “hope” in Swahili, is currently located on 1 acre which is rented in town. Started a year ago with 5 children, it has grown to 24. But to the people of PCEA Nakuru West, 24 is merely a drop in the bucket. Read More→

Two bronze plaques bearing the shapes of the African continent and the country of Kenya hang in our kitchen. Each bears a scripture inscription, one from Proverbs 14:26, “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,” and the other from Matthew 6:11, “Give us this day our daily bread.”
Those plaques are gifts from Christian friends we met on a recent short-term mission trip to Nakuru, Kenya. Each time my husband and I glance at their pictures framed nearby, we are reminded to pray for our new friends and to remember. Read More→
