| Thomas is a
founder and trustee of Rivers of the world. He is married to Sarai Ann
Canfield of Collins, Mississippi. Sarai Ann, the daughter of Esma Canfield and
the late W.B. Canfield is also a trustee of ROW and together
they created the Alicia Hoover Educational Fund which provides
school supplies and educational monies to be used by ROW to help
improve educational opportunities for youth in very remote
areas.
Thomas and Sarai Ann have two
children, Christi and Buddy and three grandchildren, Sarai-Baily
Saulters, Anna Marie Saulters and Hallie Crews Saulters. Thomas'
parents are Nellah Bailey Webb and the late H.C. Webb, Jr. of
Meridian, Mississippi. His grandparents were H.C. Webb, Sr., and
Lanell Webb of Meridian, Mississippi and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L.
Bailey, former Governor and First Lady of Mississippi from 1944 to
1946.
Thomas graduated from Meridian High
School in 1966 and then attended the University of Southern
Mississippi where he obtained his B.S. degree. He then went on to
University of Mississippi Law School where he received his law
degree in 1973. During his years in the military, he attended the
University of Virginia where he studied JAGC - 69th Basic Course
and then served as a Captain in the JAG Corp of the U.S. Army from
1973 to 1976.
Thomas served as Assistant District
Attorney for the 10th Circuit Court District from 1976 until 1977.
He is a Member of the Mississippi State Bar, the Lauderdale County
Bar Association, the Mississippi Federal Bar Association and the
American Bar Association. In 1978, he was Treasurer of the
Lauderdale County Young Lawyers Section and has served as a Past
President and Vice-President of the Lauderdale County Bar
Association. From 1986 to 1988, Thomas served as
Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President and President respectively of
the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference.
As an attorney, Thomas has been
admitted to the Mississippi Supreme
Court; the U.S. District Court - Northern and Southern District of
Mississippi; the U.S. Court of Claims; the 5th and 11th Circuit Courts
of Appeal; and the U.S. Supreme Court
From 1977-1979, he worked as an
Associate with Bourdeaux & Jones and was made a Partner in
1979. He continued to work with Bourdeaux & Jones until 1997
when he left to start his own firm, Thomas L. Webb, P.L.L.C. where
he continues to work today.
Thomas has served as an Elder and
Trustee of Trinity Presbyterian Church between 1987 and 1997. He
was Director/President of Christian Outreach for Missionary
Evangelism and subsequently was a co-founder and Trustee/Secretary
of Rivers of the World.
He is a past member of Board
for Lauderdale County Habitat for Humanity, past member of Board for Lauderdale County Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, Member of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce
and a Board Member of Wesley House Community Center, Inc.
