He walked up to the window of my truck at the gas station and I thought, “Oh, I’ve had it now!” I am a firm believer that God works out everything for our good and that nothing happens by chance. The guy turned out to be Shawn Powers. He is a new friend who lives in Jackson, TN and who listens to me on the radio.

One of the joys of my life is taking someone to the mission field for the very first time. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard questions such as, “Is it going to be hot? Will there be bugs? Can I eat the food? Will they have a bathroom? Am I going to die?”

Yes, it does slow down because of the heat and humidity, but August is also the beginning of preparing for another school year, for football and for the assortment of activities in which our children are involved.

When I was a young teenager, I helped dig ditches as part of constructing a hotel in Florida. There was a young teen beside me digging the same ditch and he was from a Spanish-speaking country.

I don’t know about you, but I just love new things! For instance, new clothes, new shoes or even a new car! Anything new is always exciting! The new thing with Rivers of the World (ROW) is that we are building a new barge in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Do you have a dog that travels with you? My dog, Winston, traveled with me for 12 years. On one occasion, we were riding in my truck, which had no top and no windows. I stopped to get gas. As I was pumping gas, I noticed how well Winston was behaving. He wasn’t chewing up anything!

Okay, I need your advice on how to deal with difficult people. The difficult people I am referring to are folks involved in radical Islam. Through my travels, I have confronted radical Islam through the Iranian Revolutionary Guard based in Nicaragua, through Al-Qaeda in Iraq and through the Sunni Muslim Palestinian Islamic organization, also known as the Islamic Resistance Movement, which has infiltrated parts of Paraguay.
