While traveling in Peru, I had the privilege to visit with a chief of the Yaqua Indian tribe. He announced his presence to our camp with an entourage of drummers and flute players.

Throughout many American homes, you will find at least one Bible on a coffee table, stashed in a bookcase or on a nightstand. Many Christians own several Bibles and freely have access to the Word of God.

When you bought your groceries today, was the line long at the store? Did you get frustrated when you had to wait longer than 10 minutes? The time it took for you to shop for groceries and cook your meal was probably shorter than the wait most people had to endure in the line my friend saw at a feeding center overseas.

So how did you sleep last night? Was the water you used for your shower nice and warm? On one of our travels to Africa, we set up camp on a sandbar near one of the tributaries of the Congo River. Our showers consisted of bathing in the river. Our breakfast was not exactly bacon and eggs.

It is Thanksgiving and your favorite aunt brings her customary unusual casserole. Of course the family smiles each year telling her how delicious the dish is, regardless of the fact that most of the family has no clue what ingredients are actually used to make the delicacy.

This scenario rarely exists in the United States where numerous people donate blood each day to save the lives of countless people.
