In the Eye of the Storm

I have had my fill of hurricanes, especially after riding out Hurricane Mitch, which struck Central America in October 1998. We huddled together and spent our time on top of Mayan ruins sending back e-mails and radio interviews as the hurricane swirled all around us.

Full Armor of God

I just love parades—the marching bands, the floats and baton throwing. I participated in a different kind of parade in Northern Belize. We announced on the radio for everyone who owned a Bible to meet us on the northern end of town. This parade was held as a march for the Bible.

Some of the languages of this world are “beautifully” challenging, to say the least. In my travels around the world, I have picked up phrases from a variety of languages. Even though my Vietnamese is dreadful, I believe I can remember Chuc Mung Nam Moi, Happy New Year.

In the United States, we have accurate early warning systems that alert us to potential dangers of approaching storms.

Contributions to Rivers of the World (ROW) have enabled us to support a laboratory in Lima, Peru where research is being conducted to reduce the threat of Malaria by getting rid of mosquitoes. Scientists have discovered a fascinating way to kill mosquito larvae without harming the environment.

The dirt road was dusty as I walked along side an ancient African woman who spoke in her language and I spoke in mine. Down this path I learned that the woman’s grandson had just died that day. She discovered that my two sons were still alive.
