How Not to Witness

Published by kclack under Love, Venezuela

Now this is a first for me. I call this, “how not to lead somebody to Jesus.” We were conducting a medical clinic a few months ago along the very remote Manamo River while in Venezuela. We were among Warao Indians when a very distraught mother approached because her “sickness” was that she fainted. This mother had no idea why she fainted and she was very worried about it and wanted the doctors to check her out.

God’s Timetable

Published by kclack under Giving, Love, Witness

Have you ever noticed that when you’re right in the middle of something very important the phone rings? For me it is usually somebody who can’t pronounce my name and they want me to give to some worthy cause. It just drives me nuts!

Be Content

Don’t you just love church suppers! I know I do! I enjoy the fellowship, the food and the fun. There is just something special about believers gathering together around a table of food and sharing in fellowship. Unfortunately, someone has been telling Christians around the world, “Oh, Ben will eat anything.” I’ve heard many people tell me, “give this a try” as they were presenting me with some strange or unusual delicacy.

Cry Out to the Lord

Published by kclack under Serving

Do you recall those times in your life when you tripped and fell, were stricken with a terrible sickness or just stubbed your toe against something? Do you remember during those times feeling so miserable or hurting so badly you simply wanted to feel better again?

Common Ground

Published by kclack under Blessings, Venezuela

Patterns and habits are made to be broken, aren’t they? The pattern for Rivers of the World (ROW) has been for us to travel down remote jungle rivers, stop at villages along the way and announce that we would like to set up a medical clinic. We instruct everyone who is sick or in need of medical care to form a line and then we begin checking everyone to see how we can help.

Light of the World

Published by kclack under Rivers

You would have to travel 2,197 miles due southeast of my home in Georgia to get there. Where is there? It is a remote area of Venezuela where I traveled to in August. Check out the Rivers of the World (ROW) web site to see our pictures of the Orinoco Delta of Venezuela and the wonderful people and places we visited.

He Spoke Forth Life

I can testify that old dogs can learn new tricks. I have a precious neighbor, Holly, who is teaching me about God’s creation and the many plants He designed so that we may have a better life.

Do You Know Him?

Published by kclack under Danger, Prayer

Have you noticed that sometimes it is just hard multi-tasking? I experienced one of those times recently that doing more than one thing at a time was actually quite easy. When I was in Venezuela, Rafael stood up in our boat, climbed into a nearby tree and grabbed a snake out of the bushes. He then gave us all an up close view of the snake.

Dare to Dream

Every now and then you come across a quote that is so powerful that it has to be shared. When I was in Iraq, Capt. Luke McConnell gave me a copy of Teddy Roosevelt’s speech called, “The Strenuous Life.” Former President Roosevelt gave this speech in 1899 but his words still apply to a great deal of us today.

Enticed By the Light

What I am about to share with you really happened because of Elizabeth and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise! Seriously though, Elizabeth and her husband, David, attend St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Neb. and they heard me on the radio in 2007. Elizabeth contacted me and asked, “Hey, Ben, would you come out our way and tell us your story?” Of course I replied, “You know I’ll be glad to.”
