Many faithful followers of Rivers of the World (ROW) have diligently kept up with the various projects we have done over the years in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the Dominican Republic and in Honduras. Did you know, though, what our mission at ROW is and what is the driving force behind our projects?

I was reminded on my trip in mid-March to Barahona in the Dominican Republic that as Christians we have family all over the world. While there, I worked beside Thomas and Sarai Ann Webb of Meridian, Miss. and Pastor Pedro Kery Johnson from Barahona, located on the southwest side of the country along the Caribbean Sea. We celebrated putting some concrete floors in the homes of families in some very poor parts of the Dominican Republic.

I am sure you would agree that there is just nothing like waiting for the phone to ring. You’re waiting for someone to call you back, you’re waiting for that special person to call and ask you out on a date, you’re waiting for the doctor’s office to call with results…the scenarios are endless. I just love it when somebody goes to bat for me, when they step up to the plate and take a big swing! Allison Carlson, founder of An Open Chair, Inc., has set aside April, May and June to help Rivers of the World (ROW). First, I flew from Atlanta, Ga. to Managua, Nicaragua, near the Pacific Ocean. From Managua, I flew east to Bluefields, located on the Caribbean Sea. Upon arrival in Bluefields, I hopped in a boat and we traveled for 35 miles south along the coastline until we reached the beautiful little village of Monkey Point.

Okay, I admit it, hosting a social function is not one of my strengths, nor is it something I enjoy doing. Sometimes you just got to do what you’ve got to do and that is why I am requesting your prayers.

We have just finished celebrating the magnificent day of Easter, but it is life after the resurrection that I want us to think about at the moment. The week after Easter means that I will be traveling to Nicaragua attempting to meet with the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and visiting with our staff and friends in Monkey Point. Willie Brown will be taking me down the coast of Nicaragua to that beautiful jungle village.

From a distance it looked like a disaster. Jesus had been betrayed by one of His own disciples. He had been arrested, beaten and crucified. As Christ hung on the cross, lifeless, fear gripped the lives of His disciples. All their hopes, dreams and promises were gone.

Guess what I just discovered? I found three more words that can dramatically change your life and I want you to incorporate these words in everything you do during this Holy Week. Christians around the globe are celebrating Holy Week, which is the week before Easter that includes Palm Sunday, Good Friday and the last day of Lent, the day before Easter.
