Act Courageously
As many of you know Iran landed military troops in Nicaragua and I believe they did so in order to learn about life in this part of the world. Surely they came to better understand Christianity! In February Rivers of the World (ROW) began several projects in Monkey Point, Nicaragua because that is also where the Iranian Revolutionary Guard landed troops in November 2007.
I recently returned from a trip to Nicaragua and I am happy to report to you that ROW has rebuilt the churches, provided more Bibles, organs and guitars, supplied baseball uniforms for teams in the village and even renovated the school. While in Nicaragua on this trip, I decided to take it up a notch. I traveled to Managua, west of Bluefields, to visit the Iranian Embassy and the main Nicaraguan military base. I left a letter of invitation for the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to meet me so we could discuss our mutual relationships with the people of Monkey Point. We’ll see what kind of response I get and I’ll keep you posted.
If you feel like you’re drowning in a sea of troubles today and you simply cannot find the strength to go on, let me encourage you to set your eyes upon the cross. May you also find encouragement in reading 1 Corinthians 13-14, which says:
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.”
While we await the return of our faithful Lord and King, we must stand firm in our faith and remain alert, ever watching for the schemes of Satan. In all we do we must demonstrate the love of Christ to everyone, even during those times when He calls us to step out of our comfort zones and demonstrate great courage for Him.
