Always on Our Lips
Three times while I was recently in Thailand it happened. After the third time I just had to figure out why. We’re driving down a highway heading from Bangkok to Hua Hin and three different times Pui honks the horn for what appears to be no apparent reason.
Finally I asked, “What is all that about?” She explained that it is a tradition in her native country to clap your hands or honk the horn three times as you pass a temple. It is a way to let God know that you are thinking about Him. What a neat idea!
When you’re out and about today, honk your horn one time if you pass the church you attend or even if you pass some other Bible believing church. This will let others know that your faith matters and you are not ashamed to proclaim that you are a Christian.
We are encouraged in Hebrews 13:15-16 (Amplified):
“Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name. Do not forget or neglect to do kindness and good, to be generous and distribute and contribute to the needy [of the church as embodiment and proof of fellowship], for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
We offer sacrifices of praise to God through our words and deeds. As Christians, bought by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, we should always have a praise on our lips. It should become as natural as breathing. The same is true of serving others, which should simply be an extension of bringing praise to God.
