Work While There Is Time
During the dry season, around May to October, in areas south of the Equator in Africa, the rivers either disappear completely or turn into a little trickle. My wife, Mickie, and I were near Kinshasa in the Congo and walked in a dry riverbed filled with thousands of people.
These folks had jackhammers, sledgehammers and hand held hammers and were all down in the river bottom breaking rocks into smaller pieces. Mickie and I asked why everybody was working at such a feverish pitch. We learned the rocks were used to make their roads, houses, churches and schools and they had to break the rocks when the river was at its lowest because once the rainy season began, they could work no more.
I encourage you, fellow Christians, before the Maker of the rain returns, tell someone you love them, pray for someone and bless someone in Christ’s name. Do it now while there is still time.
Let us heed Jesus’ words to his disciples, as written in Matthew 9:37-38:
“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’”
The time is drawing nigh for Christ’s return. There are many people wandering aimlessly through this life without Christ. Certainly, the harvest is ripe and plentiful. The question is, are we willing to work until He returns, drawing all men unto Him? Let us be found working diligently for our Lord when He comes and calls His children home.
