Joint Heirs

Do you know what Vietnam, Nicaragua, Belize, Congo and Brazil all have in common? During March, Rivers of the World (ROW) had teams stationed in each of those countries sharing the love of God in Jesus Christ. They were in central Vietnam, Belize and Congo and in eastern Brazil and Nicaragua. Regardless of where the teams were, their message of Jesus Christ was the same.

These folks went all over the world, literally, sharing the gospel of hope, peace, truth and joy that is only found in Jesus. Whether it is visiting an orphanage in Vietnam, presenting MegaVoice digital Bibles in Nicaragua or interacting with students at a school in Belize, demonstrating the love of Christ can be conveyed with words or actions. We can tell the people we’re visiting that God loves them and that He desires to bless them so they can be a blessing to others.

Today, you may not be in Vietnam, Belize or Brazil, but wherever you are, I want you to realize that God put you there for a reason and that is to share the gospel with someone you meet today. You don’t need to use eloquent words to share the love of Christ. It is as simple as giving a stranded mother and her children a ride, saying a kind word to your coworker who is struggling at work or buying a meal for someone who is homeless.

As Christians, we should never forget the privilege we have been given by Christ as joint heirs with the children of Israel for the promise of eternity. We can carry this promise to others overseas or in our neighborhood. Paul tells us in Ephesians 3:6:

“This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.”

The greatest gift you can give a person today is the knowledge that no matter what they have done in the past they can be set free in Christ.
