Be Like the Father

[ 0 ] April 30, 2010 |

This is the way it is supposed to work. My friend, Brian, is from Zimbabwe and he landed a job in Central America that made him sick. To be treated, he ended up in a hospital in Houston, Texas. Since I live in Georgia, what was I to do to help my sick friend who was so far away?

I did what I encourage you to do if you are ever in that situation. I picked up the telephone and I called a church in Houston. I spoke with Dr. John Crimmins, pastor of Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Bless his heart, Dr. Crimmins is going to hunt down my friend from Zimbabwe like the hounds of heaven! He is going to give Brian some love while he recuperates in Texas.

The point is not that Dr. Crimmins is a Texan, but that he loves the Lord and is not afraid to share the love of Christ with others. God knows exactly what we are going through and sometimes He impresses upon a person’s heart to reach out and help a particular person in need. Read 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 to understand why God provides people to assist us:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

If you have personally received help in any way from a fellow Christian, than I would ask that you would strive to find someone you know whom you could help with a little encouragement, hug, a shoulder to cry on or words of wisdom.
