Be My Witness

[ 0 ] April 30, 2009 |

Many faithful followers of Rivers of the World (ROW) have diligently kept up with the various projects we have done over the years in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the Dominican Republic and in Honduras. Did you know, though, what our mission at ROW is and what is the driving force behind our projects?

As our name depicts, our ministry targets remote river basins. Our goal is to serve alongside the people who live in these areas. We take the time to find out what their greatest challenges are each day. ROW staff and volunteers then covenant with the people to meet and overcome these challenges together. We conduct projects with the understanding that it is their country, their village and their culture, but it is our problem.

You have no doubt heard about the medical clinic recently constructed in Honduras, about the newly installed well at the orphanage in Kinshasa in the Congo and about volunteers adding concrete floors to homes in impoverished areas in the Dominican Republic. Did you know that ROW serves in over a dozen countries across the globe?

ROW projects through the years have included assisting with a housing development in Guayaquil in Ecuador, delivering school supplies and Bibles to four Qushau Indian villages along the Napo River in Ecuador and serving along four rivers in Peru by providing medical and dental care and conducting vacation Bible school.

In addition to construction, evangelism and healthcare, ROW is also involved in scientific research. In Lima, Peru, ROW supports a laboratory conducting research to find a way to reduce the threat of malaria by getting rid of mosquitoes.

ROW’s commitment to reaching people living deep within jungles and along the most remote rivers in the world is based upon Acts 1:8 (Amplified), which states:

“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.”

After Jesus’ resurrection, He appeared to His disciples and instructed them in how to effectively serve as His witnesses. Do you desire to testify to others about what Christ has done in your life and do you long to share with them how they can experience eternal life with Jesus? The only way you can have courage, boldness and success as Christ’s witnesses is to allow the Holy Spirit to endue you with power. Seek today to be filled with the Holy Spirit and then go forth and be a witness for Jesus, in your city, state and beyond.
