Beyond Words
Technology is such a wonderful tool, especially with the ministry of Rivers of the World (ROW). ROW staff member, Drew McIlreavy, and ROW Executive Administrator, 3, were recently in two different parts of the world but both were equipped with wonderful satellite technology.
These satellite radios Drew and 3 had with them enabled us to realize that one team was returning to the United States late because of a storm in Miami. We were also informed that a girl from Mississippi failed to read her emails so she was unaware that there had been a change in her flight schedule. Her mother just had a fit!
Our staff can contact me using these portable satellite radios from remote areas of Honduras or even Vietnam regardless if I am deep in the jungles of Peru. The great thing about this technology is that it connects every one of us from all over the world and that is really what it is all about.
Stop by ROW’s web site and you will notice radio clips that you can listen to that feature reports from ROW staff and volunteers as they give updates on what is taking place in a particular part of the world. I just listened to Jeannie talk about the fact that they had 100 patients in the clinic today. Using this radio technology is another fantastic way for ROW to share with others the exciting ways that we minister and work for the Lord.
We are reminded in 1 John 3:17-18 (AMP) that our love for others, especially fellow Christians, must be demonstrated beyond words. We read:
“But if anyone has this world’s goods (resources for sustaining life) and sees his brother and fellow believer in need, yet closes his heart of compassion against him, how can the love of God live and remain in him? Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity).”
