By My Spirit
I recently had so much fun that I just can’t wait to tell you all about it! If you are even remotely familiar with Rivers of the World (ROW) then you know we serve in four of the seven continents of the world. This includes the countries of Vietnam and Cambodia in Asia, Kenya and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa, Brazil and Venezuela in South America and the Dominican Republic and Honduras in North America.
We find various means of sharing the Gospel throughout the world using rivers as a way of reaching the native people. It is such great fun! Let me tell you what else is fun that I rediscovered recently. A church sent me one of our solar powered digital Bibles translated into Korean. They gave me specific instructions to give the Bible to a Korean believer and then tell them about the experience.
I accepted the challenge and found my dear friend, Aji, who works at the local dry cleaners where I live in Georgia. I approached her and asked in Korean, “Aji, Jesu mi simnika?” This means, “Do you believe in Jesus?” Aji replied, “Ye,” which means “yes.” I then gave her the solar powered digital Bible that had been translated into Korean. Her eyes just lit up! I must confess I had forgotten how much fun it is to share the Gospel in America with strangers!
Let me challenge you to go forth today and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with somebody in your community. Before you accept this challenge, read Acts 1:8:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
After Christ’s resurrection, He spent time continuing to teach His disciples. He instructed them to carry the Gospel forth, first in Jerusalem, then beyond to the very ends of the earth. However, before the disciples could be effective witnesses for Christ, they first had to receive power from the Holy Spirit. Likewise, if we desire to be victorious in witnessing to unbelievers we must do so in the power of the Holy Spirit and not in our own power.
