I recently received a nice reminder of something that perhaps I had just forgotten. Ah, it is summertime, my favorite time to put on shorts, flip flops and head to the beach. Wearing flip flops recently took on a different meaning for me. Allow me to explain.

The force behind a thunderstorm is quite different depending upon where you live. The magnitude of a thunderstorm in the Midwestern part of the United States is very different from a thunderstorm in the Southwestern part of our country. Likewise, a thunderstorm in Georgia, called a gulley washer or frog strangler, is also quite different.

When my children were little I did one of those unspeakable things that parents sometimes do—I bought my sons a drum set. What an interesting experience! They would pound away and all it did was prepare me for serving in the jungles abroad where drums can be heard pounding all night long.
