No Need Too Great

Published by kclack under Dominican Republic, Haiti, Hope

Several Rivers of the World (ROW) staff have some unusual names. We have 3 and Wuk, to name a few. Now, we have our great friend who comes from the Baptist faith, Jack. Naturally, we call him Jack The Baptist. Hey, it works for me!

My Redeemer Lives!

Published by kclack under Hope

Do you ever have a single word that seems to just stay on your mind? It likely isn’t the word supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Do you remember when that word was all the rage?

Call on the Father

Published by kclack under Hope, Love

Sometimes it feels to me like God moves the whole world just to make things happen for the good. A woman in Virginia heard Rivers of the World (ROW) on the radio awhile back and decided to begin supporting us through her organization, An Open Chair Inc. She provides us with little white chairs that have the words, “Be Still And Know.” We use the chairs in our ministry to remind people that the Lord is near to them no matter what they are going through.

Changing Seasons

Published by kclack under Hope

I was lying in bed on a recent morning when suddenly I awoke from the season of fall blowing into my window. My goodness, a blast of cold air shook me out of the bed! I looked outside and could smell the sweet aroma of wood smoke and I could see that the leaves on the trees were starting to change to brilliant colors. All of this meant that life was transitioning into another season.

A Very Present Help

Published by kclack under Hope, Scripture

I have discovered a new term that I hope you will include in your life’s vocabulary. What word do you use for when you know that something is just not right and it is not on the up and up? How about when you are curious about a situation and you’re not exactly sure how to describe it? In both cases, call it a post turtle. You’re thinking, “What?”

One Touch

Published by kclack under Healing, Hope

I am sure you would agree that there is just nothing like waiting for the phone to ring. You’re waiting for someone to call you back, you’re waiting for that special person to call and ask you out on a date, you’re waiting for the doctor’s office to call with results…the scenarios are endless. Like it or not, many of us put our lives on hold during those times and just sit near the phone. We wonder what the news will be and what will be said.

Father of Compassion

Published by kclack under Giving, Hope

I just love it when somebody goes to bat for me, when they step up to the plate and take a big swing! Allison Carlson, founder of An Open Chair, Inc., has set aside April, May and June to help Rivers of the World (ROW). The proceeds from the sales of all of her little chairs will help us do our ministry around the world.

Resurrected

Published by kclack under Hope, Scripture, Witness

From a distance it looked like a disaster. Jesus had been betrayed by one of His own disciples. He had been arrested, beaten and crucified. As Christ hung on the cross, lifeless, fear gripped the lives of His disciples. All their hopes, dreams and promises were gone.

Confidently Trust Jesus

Published by kclack under Faith, Hope

If you happen to be driving through the Frankfurt, Ky. area, keep your eyes open for the White Light Diner, located at 114 Bridge Street in downtown Frankfurt. The historic diner has been in operation since 1943. My friends Rick and Zachary run the place. Specifically, Chef Rick Paul has been operating the diner for 20 years.

Joy Unspeakable

Published by kclack under Hope, Scripture

Many of you might know that I spent 3-1/2 years in prison. Yep, it’s true. I served as a law enforcement chaplain. I could come and go anytime I wanted. I will never forget meeting an ancient chaplain in a jail in Atlanta. He looked at me and I promise you the first thing he said to me was, “Son, never smile in this job.”
