Despite modern conveniences, sometimes things just simply fail to perform as they were designed. We had a water purification system that was supposed to purify 5,000 gallons of water. As we were deep in the middle of the jungle, depending on this system for clean, safe water, the thing broke after purifying around 5 gallons of water.

Never Out of His Sight

I am at home on rivers and in jungles where it is hot and steamy. I am not crazy about mountains and cold weather, and yet, I found myself in the back of a pickup truck headed into the mountains where it was cold. I could not get out of the truck as it continued its climb up, up and up into the mountains.

Serving Around the World

The boat had broken down and we had to hike out of the jungle. Our crew decided we would take whatever trail went up and if the trail forked, we would go to the left. We set out on our journey and finally made it to an old church where we spent the night on the floor.

Contributions to Rivers of the World (ROW) have enabled us to support a laboratory in Lima, Peru where research is being conducted to reduce the threat of Malaria by getting rid of mosquitoes. Scientists have discovered a fascinating way to kill mosquito larvae without harming the environment.
