On my recent trip to Nicaragua the carburetor on the boat we were riding in fell apart. To make matters worse, after we fixed that problem we then ran out of fuel. So here we are stuck on the Kukra River in the deep jungles of Nicaragua, it is getting dark and the animals are now coming to life. It quickly became time to figure out how to get out of that predicament.

Many Christians I am sure have heard the term, “We’re going to lift you up in prayer.” I have to admit that this is one of those expressions that I have never really examined or even thought much about. I just figured the term meant someone was putting a person’s name before the Lord, and that God would hear the prayer and then act upon it.

Distressing news about a friend is much more difficult to accept when you have a long history with that friend. For years you have heard me talk about my friend, former General Adolphe Onusumba, who was one of the rebel leaders in the recent civil war in the Congo. We were friends throughout the civil war.
