I just love the impact radio has on its listeners. I headed to Texas recently to see my friend, Charles Johnson, who listened to the radio and before he knew it, he was headed overseas on a mission trip.

My buddies from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia recently joined me in Punta Gorda, Belize where we added a wing onto the local hospital. We poured 100 tons of concrete to create a second floor on the new maternity wing.

Oh, my goodness, I didn’t know they let him on the plane looking like that! Tom Flaim, Dominican Republic (DR) Batey Program Manager for World Water Relief, stepped off the plane from the DR looking like a dust covered Santa Claus! He traveled to the DR ignited by a tremendous challenge given to him by Rivers of the World (ROW).

Are you ever so busy that is seems as if your life is slipping through your fingers and you can’t seem to get a grasp on the time that is zooming by? I had one of those days recently where I was so incredibly busy and it became utterly apparent that 3, Rivers of the World’s (ROW) executive administrator, was also very busy!

Okay, I’ll be man enough to admit that with my family scattered all over the world it is easy to kind of revert back to an animal instinct way of life. Recently, we had two wonderful friends staying at our house in Georgia. Drew, a Rivers of the World (ROW) staff member, and Katie, a new friend who has helped ROW, were visiting.

The annual Rivers of the World (ROW) board meeting was held recently and it was a lot of fun. Yeah, right! All kidding aside, it really was fun. All the ROW staff, board and others gathered for a dinner, we prayed and then we began discussing everything from finances to new ideas and exciting ways to continue serving the Lord around the world.

In many parts of the country, temperatures are still quite warm, yet, fall is certainly in the air! Cooler temperatures mean it is time for me to make my very famous stew. “Ben’s Special Stew” is so good because it includes whatever I may have in my house at that particular time.

What comes to your mind when you think of the word “missionary?” Some closely related terms might include “ambassador,” “disciple” and “messenger.” As Christians, we tend to view a person who is a missionary as one who is called by God to serve and minister in a foreign land. This may indeed be true, but, according to the Word of God, all who profess to be Christians are considered disciples of Christ and have been given a mandate to make disciples of all nations.
