Daily Bread

[ 0 ] May 31, 2010 |

I am curious, how do you start each day? Those associated with Rivers of the World (ROW) have vastly different morning routines. I just love the fact that I cannot call 3 until after 10am, which is when she is usually finished with her straining, craning, dragon yoga movements.

Aldi, on the other hand, doesn’t even get up until after 11am so I must keep that in mind when I need to call her. However, I can call Chris anytime after 6am because he is working out somewhere and is ready to talk.

So what do you do when you wake up in the morning? Do you have a strict routine that you follow? I try to do a few stretching exercises in the morning and I strive to start each day setting aside time with the Lord. I like to thank Him for the rest that He provided me through the night and to praise Him for the beginning of a new day. I find that if I give up, surrender unto the Lord, before I begin my day, it usually goes a whole lot better!

Try starting your day by telling the Lord, “Okay Lord, today is all yours. Do with this day as you see fit.” We have an example of how we should pray, as taught by Jesus to His disciples, found in a portion of Luke Chapter 11. Let’s look at Verse 3:

“Give us each day our daily bread.”

God is gracious by not giving us stale blessings from yesterday. He is also merciful and knows just what we can handle each day and so He doesn’t provide what is needed tomorrow. We should ask the Lord for precisely what we have need of this day. Feast on His fresh blessings each day and thank Him for knowing exactly what will nourish us as each day unfolds.
