Do You Know Him?
Have you noticed that sometimes it is just hard multi-tasking? I experienced one of those times recently that doing more than one thing at a time was actually quite easy. When I was in Venezuela, Rafael stood up in our boat, climbed into a nearby tree and grabbed a snake out of the bushes. He then gave us all an up close view of the snake.
The snake had a triangular shaped head and it opened wide its mouth displaying its big fangs for all of us to see. In my mind all I was thinking was the snake had to be poisonous. Despite Rafael’s many assurances that the snake was a false boa and it wouldn’t hurt me, I found myself backing up saying, “Okay, okay, okay, the snake can go now!” As I was very vocally expressing my fear, I was at the same time praying, “Oh, Lord, protect me from this snake.”
This situation made me wonder what most of us do during times of difficulty or in the midst of fearful circumstances. Do you normally find yourself retreating, trying to protect yourself, while forgetting about God’s awesome power? Or, does faith usually kick in during these times prompting you to call out to the Lord in prayer and praise at the same time?
There were many times in David’s life that fear gripped him, yet, he knew God and understood that He would protect him. We read in Psalm 9:10:
“Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.”
The more you draw closer to Jesus and learn about His personality, the more you will realize that you can trust Him to never abandon you. Seek Him today with all your heart and you will discover that He has been right there with you the whole time, just waiting for you to call out His name. How about it, dear Christian, do you know Christ personally?
