Each Part Is Necessary
Some of us serve as Sunday school teachers at our church, some as nursery workers, some as greeters and some as janitors. Regardless of our roles in the ministry, each part is vital and necessary.
Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:15-16:
“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
Sarah Ann Webb of Meridian, Miss. discovered as she set out to begin a new ministry someone was already in place carrying out God’s work. Sarah had gathered a team of women who hiked up the Andes Mountains and back down the Andes Mountains. They hiked nine hours through an Ecuadorian jungle to arrive at the headwaters of the Napo River.
Sarah’s desire was to start a new ministry by working her way from the headwaters of the Napo River all the way down to the Amazon River in Peru. When Sarah and her team arrived at the headwaters of the Napo River, they discovered someone was already there doing a wonderful ministry.
The team did what we Christians are supposed to do. They took all of their resources, Bibles and supplies and offered them to the folks doing the ministry at the headwaters of the Napo River. Sarah and her team then told them, “God bless you, keep up the good work and know that you are in our prayers.”
Even though Sarah and her team learned they were not needed in that particular place, they still knew they were needed elsewhere to carry out God’s plan. Sometimes we are not always needed at a particular time or place, which simply allows us to be able to serve God somewhere else.
