Energy Well Spent

Published by kclack at 11:25 pm under Prayer, Scripture

I know I am not the only one who has ever spent a ton of time worrying about someone or a particular situation only to realize later that all that time and energy was wasted. Okay, I confess, there are times when I simply toss and turn in bed because I am worrying so much about my precious wife, Mickie, who is living in the Middle East and undergoing chemotherapy treatments for cancer. It is difficult for me to sleep after I talk to her on the phone and hear her voice, which just sounds awful as she is lying in a hospital bed miles, and miles from home.

There are nights that I will stay awake for hours on end praying and worrying about her. Without fail, though, I’ll call her again the next day and by the afternoon Mickie is lying by a pool sipping on her favorite strawberry milkshake and feeling like a million bucks. I then realize that I had wasted all that spiritual energy worrying when I know my wife is safely in the Lord’s hands. She has great doctors too, and I know that as well. But, I still choose to worry instead of resting peacefully upon God’s word.

Let me challenge you today to join with me in making the decision to cast all your cares upon the Lord. Once you give to Him your worries and concerns, leave them all in His hands and go about the day and the rest of your life living at peace and filled with joy.

Before you step one foot out of your home today, take the time to read Matthew 6:27 (Amplified), which says:

“And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life?”

Worrying about a particular problem or person will not change the circumstances nor will it add to our lives in any respect. Worrying will, however, rob you of precious time, likely create a host of medical problems and steal joy and peace from your life. To be overly concerned about anything in our lives simply displays a lack of trust and faith in God. Don’t you think the same God who created you is also able to heal you, provide for you and take care of whatever it is that concerns you today? Instead of wasting time and energy worrying about things we have no control over, let’s use that time and energy on our knees praying to Jesus who lovingly holds all of us in His hands.
