Entertaining Angels

Do you believe in angels, like I believe in angels? The Bible even warns us how to treat strangers, as stated in Hebrews 13:1-2:

“Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.”

I had an experience that happened to me recently that reminded me of angels. I was sitting at a busy intersection in my car and was really feeling down. I began daydreaming and thinking for some reason about those old cartoons I used to enjoy so much. Perhaps you remember those cartoons that had exaggerated drawings of characters with such big smiles.

As my thoughts were drifting I noticed in front of me one of those trucks that are used to transport a huge crane and it crossed the intersection. The truck passed right in front of me and for some reason I looked at the driver’s side of the crane and staring right at me was the largest, roundest head that I have ever seen followed by the biggest smile. I just burst out laughing because it looked so funny.

This scene reminded me of entertaining angels unaware and seeing that smile attached to that head lifted my spirits. It was such a blessing knowing that God went to all that trouble to make me laugh. If you are feeling down today and it seems like clouds are looming all around you, let me encourage you to find some humor in the day that the Lord has granted you.
