Feast On His Word
I told her that I would pass on this idea so I am going to do it. My parents, better known as Nanny and PawPaw, live in Memphis, Tenn. I was speaking with Nanny recently and she asked how my wife, Mickie, was handling her cancer treatments. Mickie, who is currently living in the Middle East, is struggling, but she is strong. Nonetheless, please continue to keep her in your prayers.
During my conversation with Nanny, she said she has come up with a new thing that she does when she gets stuck in traffic or is delayed by one of the local trains. She simply pulls out a copy of one of Rivers of the World’s (ROW) devotional books and reads a story or two. The stories are featured as one-minute radio segments nationwide and then are transformed into devotions.
These series of books, called ROWvotions, can be found on our web site at www.row.org. Each book contains 30 devotions, which are brief snapshots of my travels abroad or encounters with ROW staff, volunteers and others. If you enjoy what you hear on the radio or if you’ve been blessed by reading these devotions on ROW’s blog, then perhaps you’d enjoy checking out ROWvotions, Volumes 1-10 found on our web site. Look for Volume 11 real soon!
Consider picking up one of the copies of ROWvotions and the next time you’re stuck in traffic, delayed by construction or are traveling by air, train or boat, you’ll have an opportunity to read some uplifting and encouraging words to help you pass the time and to stay focused upon Christ. My prayer is that these devotions will stir within you more of a hunger and thirst for Jesus.
Throughout Scripture we read stories that interweave the physical realm with the spiritual. In Matthew 4:1-4 we learn about the importance of feeding upon the Word of God. It says:
“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.’ Jesus answered, ‘It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
The more of God’s word we have hidden in our hearts the better able we will be to stand against the temptations and deceit of the evil one.

Ben,
Wonderful question and a great idea! Sent the question to the more technologically gifted webmaster! I do thank the Lord for this outlet for His Word to go forth and hopefully minister to others.
In Christ, Karin
