For His Honor and Glory
It is funny how one word can mean different things to different people. Such is the case with “wizard.” For some people, when they hear the word “wizard” they think of a witch with magical powers. However, if you look closer at the definition for “wizard” you will discover that it also means a person who is knowledgeable about something.
Serving with Rivers of the World (ROW) are two such “wizards,” Will Powell and Paul Tarver. In my line of work the wizards are the ones who can take our satellite and computer equipment and get it to operate in some of the most remote and harsh environments in the world.
During the 1990s, in the dust of the genocide in Rwanda, it was imperative that the world hear the good news of Christ. At the height of the violence in Rwanda, between 500,000 and one million Rwandans, mostly Tutsi, were massacred.
Will and Paul’s service to our organization was, and still is, invaluable. Will, whether situated in the bush, near a riverbank or high on a hill, is able to make our satellite and computer equipment hum and sing. Paul is our webmaster and he can take the information and images provided by satellite and computers and post them on our web site for all to hear and see.
Working together, ROW is able to share the Gospel all over the world because of these technologically savvy and dedicated Christians we call our computer wizards.
In part of Ecclesiastes 9:10 we are reminded:
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…”
I would add that we should do all things in order to bring honor and glory to Him.
