Formula For Blessings
Boy, am I stiff and sore all over! Believe me, it has nothing to do with my age either! We have been laying concrete block for the construction of another church in Central America.
I have learned that there is a formula to laying concrete block. If you mix two bags of cement, four buckets of sand and three buckets of water you will have a good mortar for laying concrete block. I can assure you if you spent some time with us in this part of Central America, you would learn this formula.
You may also learn, as I have, that life is full of formulas. These formulas are quite simple—if you are kind, then you will be treated kindly. If you are encouraging to others, then you will be encouraged. If you are generous with your time, talents or money, you can be certain that God will surely bless you.
Here is an even more important formula for us to follow, as stated in Psalm 128:1-2:
“Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours.”
When we have a reverential fear of the Lord and we are striving to follow His leading, we will be blessed. The same is true in our dealings with others—sow good seeds of love, respect, compassion and generosity and we will reap an abundant harvest. When the Lord blesses us, we in turn must bless others and in so doing, we bless our heavenly Father. He will then bless us, and so the cycle of blessings continues.
