Freely Give
According to Marine Capt. Luke McConnell, they sure didn’t last long! My wife, Mickie, organized a group of 100 women in our county in Georgia and they baked chocolate cakes for the troops serving overseas.
Mickie used a recipe that came from the Vietnam War. The chocolate cakes were impervious to temperature, humidly and to travel. The cakes all arrived perfectly and they lasted about a second and a half a piece. The cakes proved to be quite a shot in the arm for those young people serving overseas.
What would happen if we started sending chocolate cakes, not only to our troops, but to those who serve the Lord overseas as well? These folks are sacrificing their time and money and using their resources for the Lord.
Not only are we are instructed to help those who are sick, raise the dead and cast out demons, but in Matthew 10:8, in part, we are told:
“Freely you have received, freely give.”
Jesus has imparted power to all His children, which enables us to heal the sick, raise the dead and cast out demons. He has also given all of Himself freely so that each one of us may have life more abundantly here and in eternity with Him. We did nothing to receive His gracious gift of salvation except to have faith, believe and accept the gift. Likewise, let us today find ways to give our time, talents, money and all that we have graciously received, to better the lives of others. Whether it is baking cakes for missionaries or our troops, or knitting afghans for elderly folks in a nursing home, give freely today and bless others.
