Fulfilling the Great Commission
Rivers of the World (ROW) has a challenge for all those who want to be a part of fulfilling the Great Commission Jesus proclaimed to His disciples as recorded in Mark 16:15, which states:
“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.’”
ROW’s challenge is reaching the 1.3 million indigenous Yagua people who live on seven different rivers in Peru. We need to be able to present the Gospel to these people and provide them with basic healthcare and education. We have just returned from Iquitos, Peru and let me tell you what I think we’re going to do. Our intention is to build a hospital ship to serve the Yagua people.
The price of steel has doubled largely in part because our friends from China have been going around the world buying up all the steel. We think we have found a solution, though. We located the hull of an older ship that is made out of steel and has been stripped down. It’s in good shape and it’s our intention to buy that hull, use the steel that we can find and completely rebuild the ship, transforming it into a floating hospital. Once completed, she will be named Sarai after a friend of ours.
In addition to the funds needed to build this ship, we need a clear vision from the Lord on how to proceed in order to see this dream fulfilled. If you want to accept this challenge and be a part of carrying out the Great Commission, then I ask you to join with me in praying for ROW’s proposed new ship.
