Genuine Love

[ 0 ] April 2, 2008 |

Many of you have been closely following the recent developments in Monkey Point, Nicaragua. Rivers of the World’s (ROW) adventures in Monkey Point are detailed on our web site. In case you haven’t heard, Iranian Revolutionary Guard soldiers landed in Monkey Point and want to build a deep water port and place a canal across Nicaragua. They also want to open an embassy in Managua.

We have been working with the villagers in that part of world to help them to take a stand, to keep their land and to cling to their Christian faith. We are also assisting them with locating jobs that will matter if in fact this project is realized.

So far, we have rebuilt the church and are in the process of rebuilding the school. A water tank has been delivered to the school and we are awaiting the arrival of a water pump. Future projects that I would like to undertake include adding electricity to the village of Monkey Point and acquiring a ship for this village so the people can take their crops to the market.

If you have recently visited www.row.org then you probably noticed that we have also supplied the people of Monkey Point with new baseball uniforms. The folks have also been given Megavoice solar powered digital Bibles in English and also translated in Spanish and Farsi, which is widely spoken in Iran. They now have the ability to introduce their Christian faith to the visitors from Iran.

Paul tells us in Romans 12:9-10:

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

As Christians we must not be apathetic in our walk with the Lord. We have an obligation to take a stand for what is good and abhor what is evil. When we encounter folks from different religious backgrounds, it is crucial that we demonstrate Christ-like love. In dealing with fellow Christians, it is also imperative that we genuinely love one another.
