Give
Most folks are not crazy about having to pay their bills and I am no different. What I do enjoy is writing checks and playing on PayPal as a means of blessing others. It is that time of the year when I sit down, take a checkbook and review all the ministries that I love and pray for and I send them a gift.
I send money to the radio station that graciously broadcasts Rivers of the World’s (ROW) radio spots, I send money to ROW and I send money to my friends who are serving around the world or who are in seminary. I dearly love blessing others. It is an opportunity for me to demonstrate my love to people in a real and tangible way. It allows me an avenue to show support for the work that these folks are doing for the Lord.
I enjoy getting presents at Christmas as much as anyone does, but it is more fun for me when I can share with others what God has given me. We are reminded in Luke 6:38:
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
This Christmas, examine all the things God has given you and by the same measure, give to others. Don’t stop at simply blessing others financially. This verse of Scripture goes beyond money. Instead of judging others, we are to give mercy. Instead of being critical, we are to give compassion. Instead of being intolerant, we are to give patience. By far, the greatest commodity you can give others this Christmas is your love and your time.
