Giver of Life

[ 0 ] June 21, 2011 |

It is all the rage nowadays. You see it on bumper stickers, you hear about it on the radio, in church and among friends. We are being encouraged to “do random acts of kindness.” All that is wonderful and good, but I believe as Christians we are called to do concentrated, concerted acts of compassion in the name of Christ.

Being a Christian is the greatest excuse in the world for caring for strangers, for sharing what you have with those in need, for showing kindness in traffic and for extending mercy and forgiveness to those who might not deserve it. When someone asks, “Why did you do that?” Your reply can be as simple as, “I’m a believer in Jesus Christ.”

Too often it seems that many Christians are just barely holding on. They are doing their best to just survive in this life. That was not God’s design for His people. He tells us in John 10:10 (Amplified):

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”

We should never settle for anything less than God’s very best for our lives. If you want to experience life to the fullest then I would encourage you to stay alert for ways to love people in the name of Jesus Christ. An amazing thing happens when we intentionally pour out love into the lives of others. Jesus just continually fills us up with more love to give. Enjoy life to the fullest today and realize that we serve the giver of life.
