Glorious Future on the Horizon
As another year winds down many of us take time to reflect back over the year and we start planning for the new year ahead. When I think about 2009, I recall my travels to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Peru and throughout the United States.
During my time in each one of those countries this year, I know that many of you lifted me up to the Lord in your prayers for God to keep me safe, strong and to help Rivers of the World (ROW) to be effective in our work for Him. Looking back over 2009, I want to say thank you and God bless each one of you for your support and concerns.
Looking ahead to 2010, I am excited and just cannot wait to see what plans the Lord has in store for ROW! Stay tuned to our website, www.row.org, so you don’t miss any of the thrilling details as they unfold in the upcoming year.
The prophet Jeremiah wrote a letter detailing a message he had received from God for the children of Israel living in exile in Babylon. Even in the midst of their slavery the people were encouraged to continue living their lives. In Jeremiah 29:11, we find a wonderful promise to the captives of Babylon that we too can hold tightly to during our times of distress and trouble:
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
No matter how difficult life was for you in 2009, keep forging ahead resting firmly upon the promises of God. He already knows that you have a glorious future on the horizon so live your life in 2010 with that knowledge.
