God’s Family
I find the most enjoyment in life when it is filled with new and creative ways to serve the Lord. I experienced one such example recently during my trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
I spent time with Rivers of the World’s (ROW) Congo program directors, Omba Ngandu, Shamba Akasa and Pappa Akula Mukanga. We’re building a new barge, the Petit 3. She will be 36 meters long, about three meters deep and will carry 300 tons of supplies to missionaries and hospitals up the Congo River from Kinshasa to Kisangani and back again.
Our dream includes taking the top of that barge and using it for a floating clinic. At night, when we have to pull off the Congo River, we can dock at a small jungle village, preach the gospel and conduct a medical clinic on the top of the barge. We’re making progress in completing the barge, but we also will need some health professionals who will catch our vision and sacrifice their time and talents to serve those in need in the DRC. Let’s plan on a trip a year from now and let’s travel along the Congo River in the Petit 3 and make a difference in people’s lives. Full steam ahead!
There is simply no excuse for any Christian to not serve the Lord. Paul tells us in Romans 12:4-5:
“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
God in His infinite wisdom has equipped each believer with certain gifts that are vital in every church congregation. Pray and ask the Lord what gifts He has given you and then move forward with boldness and courage and use those gifts to bless others.
