God’s Family
One thing I enjoy about Christian radio is how all of our listeners become members of the Rivers of the World (ROW) family. Your e-mails, letters, phone calls and visits mean so much to me.
As members of the family, allow me to catch you up on what has been going on in my life. My son, Adam, has returned home from his third tour serving in Iraq, was promoted to captain in the Marine Corps and has ended his enlistment in the military. Just last week, I helped him move into his new home. That was so exciting!
This week, I am flying to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, to spend time with my wife, Dr. Mickie Mathes. She is serving as a Fulbright Scholar and an American diplomat at the University of Qatar in Doha. Mickie is heading to Prague, I am heading to Prague and we are going to eat like pigs for a week! I just can’t wait.
Thank you all for being a part of my family and the family of ROW. My prayer today is that our listeners would know how grateful we are to be connected as one big family and for all the support we receive. Financial support, daily prayers and countless volunteers who graciously give of their time is what keeps this ministry going.
Many Christians know how important it is to comfort those struggling through difficult times, but did you know we are also supposed to rejoice with others during the good times as well. Paul tells us in Romans 12:15 (Amplified):
“Rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others' joy], and weep with those who weep [sharing others' grief].”
The next time your friend receives a promotion, your co-worker receives a raise or a family member gets an unexpected financial blessing, celebrate and rejoice with them. Doing so will mean more to them during those times when they need an encouraging word or a comforting touch.
