Guide Me

[ 0 ] August 5, 2006 |

Twenty-six Land Rovers from all over the United States gathered in Texas for a mission—to drive to Belize and back to deliver medicines, school supplies and Bibles to our friends in that wonderful country.

When we came back from that expedition, we went our separate ways. I crossed back into Texas alone, at dawn. Driving across the wide, open expanses of Texas I watched as the sun rose on the horizon listening to patriotic music. With the music blaring, and the sun rising I drove into a small town in Texas.

Approaching the one red light in this town, I stopped my Land Rover and quickly noticed that people were just staring at me. I started laughing as I realized my Land Rover was dark green, it had stickers all over it and I was listening to patriotic music, loud enough for all to hear. As people continued to watch me intently, I couldn’t think of anything else to do but salute. The crowd saluted me back as I continued my drive through their small town. I couldn’t help but think, “What a wonderful greeting!”

As I travel from coast to coast in the United States and to numerous countries abroad, I must rely upon many maps, a compass and a Global Positioning System (GPS) to guide and direct me to my destination. More importantly, though, I must trust the Holy Spirit to lead me in the way that He would have me to go.

Let our prayer today be Psalm 43:3, which says:

“Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.”

Before you leave your house today, ask God to send His light to illuminate the path that you are traveling on and to shine forth His truth in your heart so that you may lead others to Him. May the Holy Spirit also guide you to the very throne of grace today where you are free to dwell and bask in His love and goodness.
