He Is Ever Mindful

Published by kclack at 8:21 pm under Rivers, Witness

It is a fact of life…we forget birthdays, anniversaries, business meetings and even fail to remember to return phone calls. Christ, unlike us, not only remembers us, He even knows every detail about each of His children, from the very hairs on our heads. In Matthew 10:30 it says:

“And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.”

If this is true, and it is, then you can be sure Jesus not only thinks about us here in America, but all His children scattered from one end of the earth to the other.

During one of my travels abroad, we pulled our dug out canoe up alongside a river. The entire village came out to greet us, joyfully singing hymns. Although we recognized the tunes, we were not familiar with the language. In the middle of the crowd, the chief approached us, greeting us by saying what we have heard so many times before in our travels, “I thought the world had forgotten us.”

Can you imagine living in a remote corner of the world thinking the world does not even know you exist? Jesus not only knows all the people living on the face of the earth, He further knows their language and their need of a Savior.

It is true that we are a forgetful people, but that does not give us an excuse to fail to remember. Today, let us strive to remember those important birthdays and anniversaries, let us make every effort to attend those meetings and let us be diligent in returning phone calls and emails. Most of all, take time today to let those special people in your life know that they are loved.

The next time you cross a river, be mindful to pray for those Christians serving on the rivers of the world. To discover more about Rivers of the World (ROW), visit www.row.org.
