He Is Faithful

The year 2005 will be remembered as a very active deadly storm season. As Christ’s return draws nearer, we see more hurricanes, torrential flooding, and devastating fires that sweep across our land. In the United States, we have accurate early warning systems that alert us to potential dangers of approaching storms.

In places like Bangladesh, these early warning systems do not exist. One farmer I know had to take his wife and five daughters and tie them in the top of coconut trees to ride out the worst storm of their lives.

After he got his family situated, the night fell and the rains came. I wonder what was going through his mind. “If something happens to my children, what will I do? If something happens to me, who will look after my family? If something happens to my wife, who will look after us?”

The next day following the storm, the sun rose, the farmer dug himself out from under his wet clothing and discovered that his wife and all of his children had survived the storm.
In our lives, no matter how dark the night, how powerful the storm, the sun will surely rise again the next day and Jesus will still be Lord.

We can hold fast to His promise in Lamentations 3:22-23, which says:

“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
