Honoring God
Do you know what imminent domain means? Apparently, this means the government has the authority to take your property so they can put in a business that generates more taxes than your home or your property. That just does not make any sense to me.
rA??
I will not get into politics, but I will tell you about a need we are assisting with in Honduras. I was recently traveling on the Pan-American Highway through Honduras. The highway was widened and repaved. In the process of upgrading the highway, numerous families were displaced throughout Central Honduras and were forced to live in tar papered shacks. Some families are even living in makeshift cardboard boxes. This is simply absurd.
Somewhere near Siguatepeque, Honduras, we are going to start building houses and with one family at a time, we are going to place them back in homes on their own property. The average cost for a new home in Honduras is around $4,000 so there is no reason for these families to remain living in such sparse conditions.
God is very clear in His word about caring for the poor and He speaks forth a strong message to those who fail to do so. In Proverbs 14:31, we are warned:
“He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.”
I encourage you today to honor God by allowing the Holy Spirit to direct you to someone in need. Be obedient and show forth compassion to the lowly in spirit, the downcast and those in need of food, clothing or shelter.
