In Deed and in Truth

[ 0 ] January 2, 2006 |

The dirt road was dusty as I walked along side an ancient African woman who spoke in her language and I spoke in mine. Down this path I learned that the woman’s grandson had just died that day. She discovered that my two sons were still alive.

This ancient African woman’s grandson had been placed on the floor of a mud hut with his arms folded across his chest. The seven-year-old boy’s belly was swollen and his hair was gray. He had starved to death.

That day will forever be etched in my mind. It was the day I decided to care. Today, I want to ask you, “What would it take to make you care and for you to realize we can change the world one child at a time?”

In 1 John 3:18, we are warned:

“Let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.”

Christ is the very definition of love and truth and if He truly lives in your heart, you will feel compelled to help those in need by giving of your time, money and resources all in the name of Jesus Christ. We can make a difference in this world by simply starting in our own neighborhood. The generosity and love we display to our neighbors will naturally flow outward and touch the lives of many others.
