In Jesus’ Name

Lights! Action! Camera! I enjoy movies just like everybody else. I learned a lesson in faith while in Africa sharing a very important movie—the “Jesus” film.

We had carried our generators, projectors and our big screen up the escarpment into an African village. While we were setting up our equipment to show the “Jesus” film, I looked up at the sky and coming between two mountains was a horrible African storm. This was not the time for a storm to be brewing! It just caught me at the wrong time and I stood there and said, “Storm, you just stay there.” My friend Mike Reinsel joined me and for two hours, we stood there and rebuked that storm.

Well, the storm stayed, but it also ended up chasing us to our camp. The storm destroyed our camp and I ended up lying in the rain thinking, “You know, my faith was strong enough to tell you to stay there but it never crossed my mind to tell you to go away.”

Whatever evil or temptation you are facing in life don’t just hold it back through prayer, tell it to be gone in the name of Jesus Christ. We must recognize the mighty, awesome power of the name of Jesus—Satan does and he trembles at His name.

When evil comes against us, let us be as bold as Christ was in Mark 4:39 (KJV) when he arose from His sleep in the boat:

“And rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

Regardless of the storm you may be facing today, you have the power through Christ to speak to that storm and tell it, peace, be still and it must obey.
