In Spirit and in Truth
It felt so good to be home when I arrived in America several weeks ago from traveling overseas. Most of you know by now that I am in at least one different country every month. There just isn’t anything in the world that lifts my heart more than returning to America especially at sunrise. I can watch the sun as it begins a new day over my town. It is during moments like these that I have an opportunity to worship Christ and praise Him for America.
When I observe my friends leaving for work, going to church, school or taking part in some form of recreation it touches my heart in a way that I cannot adequately describe. It stirs my emotions because there is nowhere else in the world where people have so much freedom than in America. There is no other country in the world where people have an opportunity to worship the Lord virtually whenever and wherever they please. There is nowhere else in the world where we can stand united in our faith and our love of country. Join with me today in praising God for the great nation in which we live in.
We don’t have to wait until Sunday to worship Christ. I wonder how many of us are thinking of everything but church and Jesus when we are singing hymns and spiritual songs on Sunday morning. When Christ met the Samaritan woman at the well, she told Him that the Jews claimed that the place where people must worship was in Jerusalem and not on the mountain where her ancestors had worshipped for generations. Read in John 4:23-24 how Jesus tells the woman that a person’s attitude in worship is more important than the place they gather to worship:
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
