In the Grip of God
Throughout my house are three old clocks that teach me something new each day. I finally got around to winding them all up and they now pleasantly go tick, tick, tick, each at its own pace. One clock runs too fast, one is too slow and one clock almost keeps perfect time.
Speaking of time, I am reminded that perhaps I place too much importance on being precise and exactly on time when in fact time belongs to God. Trust me, God will heal your broken heart in His own time, He will bring forth showers of blessings exactly when you need them and most of all, God will watch over you all of the time.
The next time you are all keyed up because you are running late, again, or you begin to grow prideful in how punctual you always are, let me remind you that God does not operate on our timetable and He has very specific plans for the time He gives us each day. Let us commit this day fully unto the Lord allowing Him to guide and direct our ways.
We have been given a wonderful assurance found in Psalm 37:23-24:
“If the LORD delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.”
You can be certain that if you are striving to follow Jesus, you will encounter problems and you will make mistakes but you will never fall beyond the grip of God’s mighty hands.
