Labor For the Lord

[ 0 ] October 31, 2009 |

Are you ever so busy that is seems as if your life is slipping through your fingers and you can’t seem to get a grasp on the time that is zooming by? I had one of those days recently where I was so incredibly busy and it became utterly apparent that 3, Rivers of the World’s (ROW) executive administrator, was also very busy!

On that particular day, I woke up in the morning to e-mails galore stating all the things I needed to accomplish right at that very minute! I don’t know what possessed 3 but she got up early that morning and was firing away e-mails in my direction. I learned that I had to call a church, send a packet of information and that ROW had issues needing to be addressed in Belize, Brazil and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Otherwise, the world was just fine on that day!

I did not mind all the e-mails because I think it’s so much fun when we are busy doing God’s work. When I’m busy serving the Lord it is hard to focus upon anything else and for me that is wonderful because it keeps my mind from straying to places it shouldn’t go. It also keeps me from eating things I shouldn’t eat!

I am so grateful that I can stay busy doing what the Lord wants me to do. I hope you have discovered your purpose in the Lord and are able to spend your time actively serving Jesus. If you have too much time on your hands then contact ROW so we can tell you about all the ways you can be involved.

After Paul discusses the victory we have over death and how we will spend eternity with Christ, he says, in 1 Corinthians 15:58 (Amplified):

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].”

More often than not, we will not see the fruits of our labor. Nonetheless, we must continue with the work that the Lord has for each of us to do. It’s not about us receiving praise and compliments. It’s about Jesus receiving all the honor and glory in all that we do for Him through serving His people.
