Let’s Talk

[ 0 ] December 2, 2006 |

There are certain sentences that I will remember all of my life. One such phrase is when my high school principal, Mr. Siler, would look at me and say, “Ben, we need to have a conversation.” That would scare me to death!

Have you ever thought that Rivers of the World’s (ROW) radio program is a conversation? We present a thought or a prayer request and so many of our listeners respond by e-mail, telephone or by letters. God bless you for keeping the conversations going!

Today, I want to tell you about one of our listeners, Karin Clack. She discovered ROW’s radio segments while living in Oregon. It was shortly afterwards that Karin began writing devotions for ROW. She moved to North Carolina in July 2006 and through ROW, has turned the devotions into a book that we call ROWvotions.

Karin, God bless you for helping us to keep the conversations going!

There is a very short verse of scripture that we, as Christians, must apply to our daily lives. It needs to become as natural as our breathing. Paul instructs us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV) to:

“Pray without ceasing.”

It would be very easy for us to skim over this verse and continue reading. I think it is important for us to understanding what “without ceasing” means. It does not mean to have a word of prayer in the morning then go about our day without talking with our Lord. In addition to our regular times of concentrated prayer, we are to commune with Jesus at all times. Our hearts are to be open to the Holy Spirit’s leading, keeping our focus continually on Christ.

I encourage all of our listeners to continue chatting with us here at ROW. I further encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ to never stop praying—never stop your conversation with Christ.
