Lifetime of Care
Being in the Lord’s care is a lifetime experience for a child of God. We should be able to look back on our journey in life and see how the Lord has carried us.
It is time for my dad to look back over his life and see how God has carried him along. It is also time for my dad to listen to his son. Dad is fine overall but he has recovered from a few strokes. He is not as agile as he used to be, which is to be expected when you’re in your 80′s! I believe it is time for him to relinquish the keys to his car and quit driving, for his safety and the welfare of others.
I had that difficult talk with him and he was quite resistant to the idea of no longer being able to drive. I had to remind him about that point in history when he was forced to have the same talk with his father. I told him that now it was time for me to have that same discussion with him.
There are pivotal times in our lives that we stop briefly and we take an assessment of our lives up to that point. We look back over our lives and remember the difficult times when we thought for sure we simply would not make it through and we recall those joyous times when the Lord blessed us beyond measure. We must not forget that no matter what we go through, God is right there nudging us along when we need a little encouragement, He is holding us in His hands when we are weary and He is a beacon of light before us, guiding us along this journey of life.
Grab a hold of this promise today found in Isaiah 49:16:
“See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.”
You have heard me say it before but every step you take and every breath you make, you are held in the palm of God’s hands from the day that you were born until the day He calls you home. He doesn’t just hold us, we are indelibly engraved upon His hands, His heart and His mind. His love for us is too vast to comprehend. Understand today that God is with you right at this very moment and He knows what your future holds. You can be certain that you have a lifetime of care from a loving Father who will see to it that you are brought safely home.
