Like an Explosion
Have you ever noticed that Marines can say the darndest things! Lance Corporal Justin Heness, 22, of Lakeland, Fla., was talking about all the bombs and booby traps he encountered while fighting the bad guys in Afghanistan. He said, “Basically, if you hear the boom it’s good because it means you’re alive after the thing goes off.” I just love that!
I am getting ready to head back over to Iraq to spend time with some of the best military members from our country. Can I be so selfish as to ask you to keep me in your prayers, particularly during April? Being in Iraq is always exciting and it gives me a wonderful chance to carry a message from you to the troops. If you have a short message that you would like for me to take on my trip and deliver to the men and women serving our country in Iraq, then drop me an email at ben@row.org.
I think it is so important for us to encourage our military members and to lift them up in prayer every chance we get. Those stationed in areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan face dangers daily and need the protection of God. They never know when they will hear the next “boom.”
Accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior is very much like an explosion that takes place in your life. We are transformed from death to life, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15:21-22:
“For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”
As descendants of Adam, we all enter the world as sinners. However, through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, He made a way for us to experience genuine life.
