Like Wildfire
One of the highlights of me passing through airports this time of the year is seeing so many of your children. I see groups of kids heading off to one of two places. They are usually participating in their first tour of Europe or they are going on a mission trip overseas.
I just love the enthusiasm from these young folks, which comes from their expectations of their trip being so high. If you saw me today in an airport than it meant I was on my way to Honduras with others from Rivers of the World (ROW). We will spend the next week visiting Siguatepeque and Taulabe in central Honduras.
ROW has three wonderful things happening in these areas. We have a magnificent medical clinic that was constructed in Taulabe, which serves about 60,000 people, many located in rural mountain villages. We also have a new clean water system that wipes out about a third of the potential diseases that could affect many of these people. An evangelistic program is also in operation in this region, providing the gospel to hungry hearts.
It sure is fun when young people come along with us and take part in all that ROW is doing in remote places around the globe. They usually have such passion that when they encounter others, their enthusiasm spreads like wildfire.
We are told in Proverbs 15:30 (Amplified):
“The light in the eyes [of him whose heart is joyful] rejoices the hearts of others, and good news nourishes the bones.”
Whether you are traveling overseas or throughout the United States, and whether or not your travels are for mission’s work or vacation, take time this summer to be so overjoyed by what Christ has done for you that you absolutely must share it with others. A simple smile or kind word shared with another could literally mean the difference between life and death, physically or spiritually.
